Strategic management is the integrative management field that combines analysis, formulation, and implementation in the quest for competitive advantage. Mastery of strategic management enables viewing an organization such as a firm or a nonprofit outfit in its entirety. It also enables thinking like a general manager to help position an organization for superior performance. The AFI strategy framework embodies this view of strategic management. It will guide the exploration of strategic management through the course of study.
