Nasida Ria vol. 5: Perdamaian is an Indonesian qasidah album from the music group Nasyida Ria, led by Hajjah Mudrikah Zain, which was released in 1982 on cassette and later on vinyl in 1984. It becoming a landmark in Indonesian qasidah music during the New Order era, which promoted Islamic values. The album modernized qasidah by blending traditional Islamic vocals with contemporary instruments like guitars and keyboards, reflecting the group’s vision to spread Islamic teachings and address social issues like peace and education. The title track “Perdamaian” critiques war, while “Kota Santri” celebrates Islamic learning, with lyrics in Indonesian that made the music widely relatable. The original 1982 cassette had 13 tracks, but a 1991 repackage reduced it to 10, with lyrical changes in “Perdamaian” (e.g., “atomic bomb” to “bullets”) and altered intros for “Kota Santri,” showing adaptations over time. The vinyl release in 1984 is less documented, with tracklist variations.
